MBChB (CUHK), FRCS (Edin), FRACS, FHKCOS · Member of NZOA · Member of HKOA · Member ACMA. Dr. Ngar graduated from medical school in Hong Kong and qualified as an Orthopaedic Surgeon there in 1995. Before immigrating to New Zealand in 1998, he served at Princess Margaret Hospital in Hong Kong for 10 years.

In 2001, Dr. Ngar was accepted as a Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He served in the Department of Orthopaedics at Waikato Hospital for 3 years, followed by 14 years as a full-time Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Lakes DHB, serving the Rotorua and Taupo areas — where he was in charge of the baby clubfoot service.

Dr. Ngar has a particular interest in children's orthopaedics and foot/ankle surgery, and has undertaken medical missions to Kenya and voluntary surgical work in remote China. Since 2016, he has collaborated with Windsor Medical Centre (North Shore) and Ormiston Specialist Centre (Flat Bush) to provide orthopaedic consultations and surgical treatment. He is an ACC Healthcare Provider and Southern Cross Affiliated Provider, and accepts referrals from family doctors including clients of other insurers.
