What We Need From You
What to bring
- Your original valid passport (guardian's photo ID is required for under 18 years old)
- A list of your medications (name and dosage)
- A list of your medical conditions, including latest medical reports if any
- Glasses, if you wear them
- Ultrasound report or midwife report with due date (if pregnant)
- Well Child booklet for babies less than 12 months old and born in NZ
- An interpreter if required — our team speaks English, Mandarin and Cantonese
Please Note
- No medical exam can be processed without a valid passport
- A copy of your passport, or an expired passport, is not accepted
Step By Step
The Immigration Medical Checkup Process
- Fill out the immigration medical assessment form and have your photo taken.
- We create your file and set up your Immigration Medical Health Case Number on the NZ eMedical system.
- Your chest X-ray is contracted to Allevia Radiology, Mairangi Bay.
- It's helpful to wear clothing that's easy to put on and off — please avoid wearing jewellery.
- If you are pregnant, please bring evidence of pregnancy (a midwife report with due date, or an ultrasound report, in English).
- Urine tests aren't performed during menstruation — we suggest waiting 7 days after your period finishes.
- If your first urine test is abnormal, a second urine test will be required on the same day.
- If the second test also fails, your urine sample may be sent to Awanui Lab for testing, at extra cost to you.
- A Limited Medical exam does not require a urine test.
- Blood test: no fasting required. Further testing may be required if initial results are abnormal, at additional cost.
- Nurse assessment: height, weight, blood pressure, and visual acuity/eye test (glasses may be required). Any abnormal finding will require a doctor's review and report.
- Doctor assessment: a regular body check for all ages. Women 45 or older will require a breast exam — we can provide a female chaperone, or you can book with a female doctor. Patients 70 or older require a cognitive test (RUDAS). Any abnormal findings will require a doctor's review and report.
- Completion and submission: your completed case is submitted to Immigration NZ via the eMedical system once all exams and tests are complete.
